Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi, has launched its latest budget gaming phone, and it sports impressive specs for a phone that costs around the equivalent of $500 or £410. It is unclear whether the powerful handset will launch over here, yet, but if it does, it is likely to represent a superb and affordable entry into the mobile gaming handset market for those on a budget.
The Snapdragon 855 Plus
The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro is powered by the new Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. In truth, it is only a little more powerful than its predecessor, the Snapdragon, but Qualcomm has managed to eek some more power from both the CPU and GPU.
Display And Memory
The device has a 6.39inch AMOLED screen, yielding FHD+ resolution and a very responsive touchscreen panel. It will have 12GB of RAM and a choice of 128GB or 256GB of internal memory, depending on the model. The memory is UFS 3.0, which means that users can open and swap between apps quickly and seamlessly.
Cameras And OS
There is a dual rear camera: the primary camera being a 48MP and the secondary a 12MP shooter. There is also a 20MP selfie camera, and the handset runs on Android Pie with very little bloatware: none of the usual crap that clogs up your phone and unnecessarily packs your internal memory.
In terms of power, there is a 4000mAH battery with 27 watt fast charging. There’s even an improved liquid cooling 3.0 to keep temperatures down and ensure continued smooth running.
The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro Budget Gaming Mobile
The phone launched in China on August 2nd with a price equivalent to $435 for the 128GB storage option and $508 for the 256HN model. Colours include purple, orange, black, silver and blue. The pick of the models is obviously the one with improved internal storage. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has yet to announced whether its new flagship gaming mobile will be available in other territories, but it would be a welcome addition to the market, if it were.
