Fortnite Creators, Epic games, are in the process of acquiring the development company Psyonix, creators of Rocket League which was announced on Wednesday. Personally one of my favourite games as of late. Epic games have given us an inkling that Rocket League will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store front.
Here is a little from Psyonix and what the future holds with Epic Games.
“In the short term, nothing will change at all! We’re still committed to providing Rocket League with frequent updates that have new features, new content, and new ways to play the game for as long as you’ll have us.”
Epic games acquirement of Rocket League is said to be finalised around May or June. Nonetheless, Steam will continue to support existing owners of Rocket League, anybody thinking of purchasing the game after Epic Games acquire Rocket League will be purchasing any DLC/Keys through the Epic Games Store.
We are currently unaware of how much Psyonix sold Rocket League for, but shall update when we know more. Psyonix currently employs more than 130 people and Rocket League itself has more than 57 million players currently.
