In Fallout 76, rubber is a common crafting material. It is used in the construction of weapons and armor, as well as mods. It is also used to build items for your CAMP. As such, you will find yourself in need of regular rubber supplies. Fortunately, there are a number of ways that you can gather this resource, and it isn’t too difficult to quickly farm rubber in Fallout 76.
Fallout 76 Rubber Junk Items
Probably the easiest way to gather rubber is to scavenge those items that contain it. Happily, there’s a reasonable list of items, and some of them contain several pieces of raw rubber. Aside from attempting to harvest the resource from junk piles, which is hardly a reliable method, scavenging and scrapping is your only real route. These are the items that contain rubber, and that you will find in Appalachia:
|Large Baby Bottle||1|
|Mine Suit Breather||1|
|Mine Suit Filter||1|
|Small Baby Bottle||1|
|TV Dinner Tray||1|
Where To Find Rubber In Fallout 76
Your best bet, then, is to get sporty and head for sports halls, gymnasiums, basketball courts, and other areas where you are likely to find basketballs and kickballs.
One of the best spots for this is Grafton High School. Had to the gym and you will find a collection of balls in bins. These yield 3 rubber each giving you a decent collection.
Tag For Search
When hunting for any specific resource, we suggest you make the most of the Tag For Search feature. Once you have tagged rubber, all junk items that contain this material will have a magnifying glass next to their name, making it almost impossible to miss or ignore the junk you want.
On the point of junk, there is another way to collect rubber, albeit a less reliable method. Junk piles give any of a number of resources. They can be manually searched to grab a few items but, more efficiently, they can be harvested in the same way as resource deposits. Find a junk pile, set up your CAMP next to it, and use an extractor to gather 20 resources per hour. Some might be rubber, some definitely won’t be, but it saves you having to go back to High School.
A number of Workshops also contain junk piles. You can build and install an extractor on these, once you have claimed the workshop for yourself. Again, you aren’t guaranteed to harvest rubber, but if you’re heavily into crafting, some of the other resources gathered will also come in handy.
