In Fallout 76, plastic is pretty much bloody everywhere. But, it’s also used for upgrades to weapons and armor, it’s used in the construction of base items, and it is also used in the crafting of bulk items. You’ll also need it if you’re a proponent of energy weapons. In short, there’s a lot of plastic, but you will need a lot of plastic too.
Plastic can be bought from some vendors, in bulk. But you don’t want to throw away your caps on something that is prevalent throughout the world. Scavenging and scrapping junk items is the most effective way to gather this basic crafting resource.

Fallout 76 Plastic Junk Items
There is a massive great list of junk items that contain plastic in Fallout 76: Bethesda’s sardonic commentary on the role of plastic in our disposable, consumer society. Probably.
Thankfully, all of this plastic is recyclable. You can take the cellophane wrapper from a packet of cigarettes, for example, and do your bit for the environment, ethically recycling it into fusion cells for your energy rifle. Enjoy the warm glow you get from environmental sustainability, coupled with the warm glow you get from nuclear fusion.
Anyway, here are the nearly 100 different junk items that can be scrapped for plastic:

Plastic Farming Locations
You shouldn’t struggle to find plastic junk items. If you need a large volume in a hurry, there are several places you can farm dozens at once.
Near Morgantown, you will find an abandoned property that once belonged to a crazy cat lady. Inside, there’s a good 25 cat dishes as well as a couple of toy cars and rocketships. This very quick run should yield approximately 60 molded plastic.

Morgantown High School was clearly celebrating Halloween when the bombs fell. As a result, you will find a ton of plastic pumpkins. There’s also a load of plastic plates and some bowling pins, as well as other items.
Once you’ve progressed a little further, you will also have easy access to Watoga High School. In here, you will find the same plastic pumpkins, plates, and pins, and can gather enough junk to scrap down for 150 or more plastic.
Tag For Search
Tagging a resource for search means that any items containing that resource will be highlighted with a magnifying glass next to the name. It won’t increase your yield, but it will make finding plastic laden items easier, and should enable you to ignore those items that do nothing but take up inventory space.
