Our Fallout 76 nuclear material guide details the junk items that can be scrapped to give this rare crafting material. We’ve also listed some of the workshops where you can gather the resource, as well as decent spots to farm relevant junk items.
Nuclear material is more difficult to find than you would imagine in the nuclear wasteland of Appalachia. It is also especially useful for the upgrading of weapons. While you won’t often find yourself in desperate need of it, it is a good idea to grab it when you see it. Although nuclear material isn’t found in the wild, you will find nuclear waste, which is essentially the same thing because it gives one nuclear material when scrapped. The guide below details other items that yield this crafting component and where to find them.
Fallout 76 Nuclear Material Junk Items
Nuclear material is one of the tricker items to find in Appalachia. It isn’t available at most vendors. However, there are a couple of ways that you can source this material.
You can mine nuclear material from some of the workshops. You don’t actually need to take the workshop, you can just visit and grab a handful of this potentially useful ingredient. If you do need a large amount, you can own and defend the workshop to mine plenty. Head for the following workshops:
- Federal Disposal Field Workshop
- Poseidon Energy Plant Yard Workshop
- Red Rocket Mega Stop Workshop
- Thunder Mt. Power Plant Yard Workshop
However, it is probably easier to find junk items that contain the material, and then scrap them at a bench. There aren’t too many items that contain nuclear material, and some of them are extremely difficult to find, but keep your eyes peeled for the following junk:
|Blast Radius Board Game||1|
|Mini Nuke Beryllium Cap||1|
|Mini Nuke Detonator Shell||2|
|Rad Poker Board Game||1|
|Vault-Tec Alarm Clock||1|
|Wakemaster Alarm Clock||1|
Where To Find Nuclear Material In Fallout 76
The board games are most commonly found in houses, trailers, and in some reception areas, while biometric scanners are found in medical and health facilities. Alternatively, you will find a number of raw nuclear waste containers in the Kanawha Nuka-Cola Plant. Head there, find the trap door on the first floor, head inside and towards the industrial area at the bottom. Look around the rooms and you should find a good half a dozen or so containers.
Glowing creatures will often yield nuclear material in Fallout 76, so wipe some of these out. Also, if there is a nuclear explosion event, there will obviously be a much greater concentration of the material found on animals in the vicinity.
Tag For Search
If you are looking for nuclear material, tag it for search. This means that when you are searching containers and other areas, any item that contains the material will be highlighted with a magnifying glass next to its name. Using this feature, you shouldn’t miss the board games and scanners that you need.
