In Fallout 76, fertilizer is used for planting crops and for making explosives; much like in real life. While there aren’t too many items that can be scrapped to give fertilizer, other than, well, bags of fertilizer, it is easily made by letting food spoil in your inventory or stash. This is handy. If you’d rather blow creatures into a bloody haze than sever them limb from limb or pop a cap in their ass, you will need a steady supply of the crafting material.
Fallout 76 Fertilizer Junk Items
You can find fertilizer out in the world, sort of. Bags of fertilizer are found throughout the wastelands, often in greenhouses and sheds. The list of items isn’t massive, but here are the items that can be scrapped to yield fertilizer:
|Bag Of Fertilizer||4|
|Radioactive Pumpkin Seeds||4|
Where To Find Fertilizer In Fallout 76
You can find bags of fertilizer in a lot of locations. Here are some of those with a decent concentration of the junk item:
- Hunt around Lewisburg rooftops and you should find eight bags, yielding 32 fertilizer.
- At the Flatwoods communal garden area, you should find six bags of fertilizer, or 24 raw fertilizer.
- Five bags of fertilizer in the greenhouses at the back of the Vault-Tec Agricultural Research Center, giving 20 of the raw material.
In most cases, the simplest way to grab crafting materials is to junk relevant items. With fertilizer, this is still a possibility. You can scrap fertilizer to make fertilizer.
But the easiest way to get it is by being remiss with your perishable management. Vegetables, meat, and food has a shelf life. This is denoted by CND, or condition, in the item details. Once your tatos reach the bottom of the condition bar, they spoil. You’re left with spoiled vegetables, which can be turned into fertilizer at a chemistry station.
The circle of life means you can gather wild fruit, let it spoil, turn it into fertilizer and then use it to grow more fruit. And, because all life must come to an end, you can let your newly harvested vegetables spoil, create fertilizer, make a frag grenade and use it to blow some brahmin to death. Collect the meat, let it spoil… and so on.
There are other ways to gather the material. The Fertile Soil Event occurs frequently. Destroy some deranged Mr Farmhands and change the Farmhands targeting parameters within the time limit to successfully complete the event. One of the rewards you will receive is fertilizer.
Workshops are a great way to gather different resources. You can nip in and take what’s available, or take over and defend the workshop from marauding enemies and players. Alternatively, you can hold the workshop and gather resources every hour. If you are looking for workshops that give fertilizer in Fallout 76, these are the workshops for you:
- Billings Homestead
- Dabney Homestead
- Sunshine Meadows Industrial Farm
- Tyler County Dirt Track
