Wandering the Appalachian wastelands can be a precarious business. If you’re not facing off against ghouls and the Scorched, which you will find yourself doing often, you’re coming head to knee with a deathclaw. To have a chance of surviving, you need the best armor. To make and maintain high level armor, ballistic fiber needs to be a priority on your next scavenging hunt.
Fortunately, while this material is difficult to come by, it isn’t impossible to find. True, you will rarely find it lying around in its pure form. However, there are a couple of junk items that can be scrapped to harvest it. And, if push comes to shove, and you’re in desperate need of more ballistic fiber, Fallout 76 has a number of vendors that sell it in bulk: you’ll just need caps.
In Fallout 76, ballistic fiber can be found in its pure form. Occasionally you might even happen upon some in a lab or base. In reality, though, it is scarce enough that looking for its base form is an unreliable method of gathering it. Scavenging is your best best.
Fallout 76 Ballistic Fiber Junk Items
The following items can be broken down to give ballistic fiber:
|Military Ammo Bags||2|
|Military Grade Duct Tape||2|
Piezonucleic Liner is almost as difficult to find as the ballistic fiber that it is made from. Realistically, then, your farming runs should concentrate on finding military grade duct tape and ammo bags. The duct tape is the better find of the two, because it also scraps 4 adhesive, which you’re going to need in relatively plentiful supply.
Where To Farm Ballistic Fiber In Fallout 76
Fortunately, both of these items are often found in the same places: military outposts, bases, and buildings. Below are some spots that you can include in your next Fallout 76 ballistic fiber farming run.
Camp McLintock is located near the Forest region in the Southwest. It is south from your starting point, Vault 76, and you will find a hatful of ammo bags here – typically around 8, netting a total of 16 fiber.
Fort Defiance is a favourite spot for ballistic fiber farming. It’s in the Southwest of the map, in Cranberry Bog. You should get 10 bags from this spot, giving you 20 fiber.
Cranberry Bog is home to several military buildings and camps. All of have the opportunity to net you military grade duct tape and ammo bags. The Watoga Civic Center, The Thorn, Firebase Major, Forward Station Delta, and Survey Camp Alpha are some of the other landmarks and buildings in this area that should yield results.
Tag For Search
As ever, when farming for a specific material, we recommend that you use the Tag For Search feature. Once you tag a particular material, a small magnifying glass will appear next to the item name when you are hunting around. It won’t highlight objects, or anything of that nature, but it will make it more difficult to miss some of the essential scrappable items.
The Scrapper perk is the only perk card that can really help when trying to find materials. This gives a chance of netting an increased amount of materials when scrapping items. However, the increase is almost as minimal as the chance of getting the bonus. Your levels are better spent elsewhere.
