This Fallout 76 aluminum guide gives details of this crafting material. It includes details of the best places to find it, what it is used for, and which items to scrap.
As you progress through Fallout 76, aluminum will become an increasingly important crafting component. The metal isn’t as difficult to find as black titanium. It is used in the construction of higher level weapons and many building components for your camp. At times, you will need a lot of aluminum, so there will come points when you have to go farming for aluminum.
Aluminum can be mined at various spots around the world. There is also a wide range of junk items that will yield the metal when scrapped, it can be harvested from a workshop, and plenty of vendors also sell the item.
Fallout 76 Aluminum Scrap Items
A lot of junk items that you find in Appalachia can be broken down to give aluminum scrap:

|Large Glass Jar Ring||1|
|Large Glass Jar Top||1|
|Small Glass Jar Lid||1|
|Small Glass Jar Ring||1|
|Small Glass Jar Top||1|
|Unrusted Tin Can||1|
|Vault-Tec Alarm Clock||1|
|Wakemaster Alarm Clock||1|
There are plenty of items that contain 2 or more aluminum. Typewriters, for example, can be found in office and commercial buildings. Other items including 2 aluminum include:
|Blasting Caps Box||2|
|Chez Vivi Typewriter||2|
|Clean Cake Pan||2|
|Clean Coffee Tin||2|
|Industrial Oil Canister||2|
|Mr. Gutsy Model||2|
|Mr. Handy Model||2|
|Robot Parts Model||2|
|Sentry Bot Model||2|
As you can see, your best bet is farming for cake pans, ski poles and TV dinner trays. TV dinner trays are the easiest of these three items to find, representing the most feasible method of farming aluminum in Fallout 76. However, there are a lot of junk items that include the material.

Where To Find Aluminum In Fallout 76
The junk items above can be found absolutely everywhere on the map. They aren’t difficult to find once you are concentrating on farming for aluminum.
Head to cafeterias and diners to find the TV dinner trays. One of the largest collections of these can be found in the cafeteria of the Eastern Regional Penitentiary, which is right in the middle of the map.
You can also mine the material directly from veins. These are typically found in hilly and mountainous regions. The Savage Divide is a great spot and you will find several veins that you can mine. You don’t need any special equipment to mine, but you will have to physically find the veins. They don’t show up on the map.
We found a really good spot at Big Bend Tunnel West. The network of tunnels is quite large, but it is home to a Miscellaneous quest that you pick up when you enter, and finish when you leave the other side.
It’s also got plenty of aluminum veins where you can collect aluminum ore. The ore also only has a weight rating of 0.1, which means that you can carry plenty of it, even if your pockets are nearly full.
I wasn’t specifically looking for aluminum ore, but I still left with 20 in my pockets. The tunnels, and both the entrance and the exit, are awash with Scorched, but there’s nothing too challenging. I also found around 10 fragmentation mines on the way in. Which was nice.
Another way of collecting the resource is to claim one or more workshops that contain deposits. Once you’ve claimed the workshop, you can install an extractor on the deposit, and it will collect up to 25 aluminum per hour. The following workshops have these deposits:
- Berkeley Springs West
- Charleston Landfill
- Converted Munitions Factory
- Poseidon Energy Plant Yard
- Red Rocket Mega Stop
- Sunshine Meadows Industrial Farm
- Tyler Country Dirt Track
Red Rocket Mega Stop has 3 aluminum deposits, which means as many as 75 resources per hour, whereas the rest have a single deposit.
Tag For Search And Perks
There are a lot of items that contain aluminum in Fallout 76. If you are on a farming mission, you should try to avoid carrying too many other items. They will take up weight in your inventory. Tag aluminum for search, pick up the items that have a magnifying glass next to them, and scrap the items at a workbench as soon as possible.
In Fallout 76, aluminum is quite a common material. It can be found in most buildings and you can even set up a mineral extractor in your camp to gather the mineral every hour.
