How to obtain the Dark Sword in Dark Souls 3
The Dark Sword: Dark Souls 3 is a weapon found within the High Wall of Lothric and of course Farron Keep right before you start the Abyss Watchers fight.
The enemies you need to kill are called Darkwraiths, they are extremely easy to farm as you will find them fighting other enemies close to the Farron Keep bonfire. By the time they have finished fighting the nearby Ghru, you will notice they have little HP left, now is the time for you to step in and finish them off, shouldn’t take much effort whatsoever.
How Can I Increase my Chances of a Drop?
If you want to increase your chances of the Dark Sword, you can always use the Rusted Coin/Rusted Gold Coin which will increase your luck and item discovery for the next 60 seconds.
Is it time to respec? I mean, you could always throw a few extra attributes into the luck skill, but is that really worth removing points from strength, dexterity and vitality?
I’d probably try the coins above out first, if you are going down the respec route, you’ll have to start farming out Pale Tongue’s which is just another task in your way. You also have to remember that this is a farmable item, it is never going to be 100% drop rate.
If you manage to come across the Golden Covetous Serpent Ring, get that bad boy equipped, it boasts an extra 200 item discovery, pretty neat, huh’. This should make farming for the Dark sword that slight bit easier.
Dark Sword Stats and Attributes
The Dark Sword requires 16 strength and 15 dexterity, you have many options to upgrade this weapon to be one of the greatest in the game. Upon picking up the Dark Sword, you’ll notice you have the “Stomp” ability.
“ Use one’s weight to lunge forward with a low stance and increased poise, and follow with a strong attack for an upward slash.” – Stomp.
You’ll notice that the Dark sword has C grade strength and D grade Dexterity, which means you’ll need 16 strength and 15 dexterity to get the most out of this straight-type sword, which includes any skills or bonuses.
With a Blessed infusion, the dark-dark sword (that’s what I’m calling it from now on, you can’t stop me) can receive A grade scaling.
Updates to the Dark Sword: Dark Souls 3
If you weren’t already aware, the Dark Sword was nerfed quite a while back now, yet this sword still stands to be one of the best there is.
From Software had their perfect chance to call this the Dark-Dark Sword, instead after infusing a dark gem, we have the Reinforced Dark Sword. (Boringggg….)
The overall reach of the weapon has been decreased, as its was ridiculously OP at the time. Don’t worry though, it’s still OP.
At the end of the day, different weapons work for different people. This is one of many amazing weapons found within the game. A lot of people opt for the Lothric Straight-sword, this is what I ran with on my very first play-through.
Is it Worth The Farm?
Absolutely, you better stop whatever you’re doing right now and get to Farron Keep. You may be one of the lucky few who receive this bountiful harvest on the first few kills, if that’s the case then I’m incredibly jealous.
